One of the amazing things about the film footage of Novem from 1973 is the fact that they tell us why they wrote their songs. Knowing the inspiration for the songwriter makes their music that much more powerful.

Mark wrote a second song called Walk up the Moon. He was not interviewed about the song, so we are left to create our own meaning. It’s apparently about a relationship gone bad.

Wake up the moon, and let the sun shine on you
Shine on and on, fakin' a smile all the while
And keepin' it real

Castin' a spell to let her know I mean no
Selling the truth, breakin' her down without a frown
And keepin' it real

But let it be me instead,
Let it be one more night,
Let it be my turn now,
And let it be good

Makin' a sound, to let her know I'm still here
Scrapin' the ground to find a brand new life
Without her

But let it be me instead,
Let it be one more night,
Let it be my turn now,
And let it be good

But there's nothing goin' right, no matter where, what, when or why
Oh my, my my, oh my
Goodbye

But let it be me instead,
Let it be one more night,
Let it be my turn now,
And let it be good
Good, Good
